Challenge
Blogshop Media came to us with a formed idea and nothing built. The premise — that a story, not a status update, is what people should be engaging with — meant the usual social conventions couldn't simply be reused: the feed, the comment thread, and the profile all had to be rebuilt around longer work. Sitting on top of that were two more products. A wallet, where readers gift coins to a story and the author withdraws them as money. And a Digital Media Lab, where lecturers set and grade student assignments. All of it had to clear both app stores before the platform had a single user.
Brand
Blogshop Media arrived with a logo and a palette, so the work was applying them rather than inventing them. We built the interface system around their colour — reserved for the things a reader acts on, gifting coins, following an author, opening a reel — and let the rest of the screen stay out of the way. On a platform where the content is long, the surface holding it has to be quiet.
Website
A responsive web frontend and one Flutter codebase serving iOS and Android. Stories carry rich text and media, a full-screen reel handles video, and conversation runs through threaded comments and direct messages with quote-replies and link previews. Every profile doubles as that author's blog. Coins are gifted from inside a story and settle into a wallet the author can withdraw against. The Digital Media Lab runs alongside as its own workspace for coursework and grading. We implemented and tested against the client's API, then took both builds through store review to publication.
Outcome
Blogshop Media went from a brief and a set of endpoints to a published app on both stores, with the same platform running in the browser. They launch with a working product rather than a prototype — and with the parts that usually arrive late, like payouts, moderation, and links that open the right story, already in place.
